The Best Podcast Newsletters of 2021

The Best Podcast Newsletters of 2021

If you’re anything like me, then you love staying up-to-date on all things podcasting. Just last week, we hit the two million mark of podcasts on Apple Podcasts. If I weren’t subscribed to dozens of high-quality newsletters, I never would’ve gotten the memo.

I know what you’re thinking, “I don’t want more email!”. These aren’t the annoying, spam-filled newsletters that you’ve seen before, though. Our favorite podcast newsletters of 2021 are thoughtful deep-dives into the podcasting world. Choose the ones that best suit your needs, and treat yourself to an inbox gift on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis--whatever your heart desires!

The Wave

I may be a little biased, but our newsletter is top-notch. If you’re already here, you probably know our mission: to help women tell their unique stories through podcasting. Our newsletter is an extension of that sentiment.

Every week, we provide our latest resources, a round-up of podcast recommendations, and the latest YouTube video from our newly launched channel. Whether you’re looking to get started in podcasting or are a seasoned pro, our weekly newsletter has got you covered!

PodMov Daily

PodMov (short for Podcast Movement) is a household name for podcasters. PodMov Daily is the largest daily newsletter in podcasting (and the second-largest overall). PM has become a hub for podcasting news, resources, and thought leadership. You'll find fresh material every weekday, including guest articles from creators and critics across the industry.

EarBuds Collective

Founder Arielle Nissenblatt was stuck in traffic one day in Los Angeles pre-covid and realized that podcasts were the only thing helping her through the commute. She asked friends and their friends to share their favorite shows. Quickly, the movement grew. Now, she sends a weekly email with a theme and 5 podcasts on that theme -- each week curated by a different person -- to thousands worldwide. Subscribing to EarBuds is a great way to support a female founder and other hard-working podcasters.

Pod News

Are you a podcast news junkie? Then this newsletter is for you. Coming to your inbox every day, Pod News is “concise, to the point, and a truly global view” of anything and everything to do with podcasting and on-demand. A bonus feature? The newsletter also covers podcast events and jobs, making it a handy tool if you’re looking to break into the field.

You can rest assured the content you receive from PBJ is reliable and of high quality, because the editorial board is filled with podcasting legends such as Elsie Escobar from She Podcasts and Todd Cochrane, the CEO of Blubrry.

Hot Pod

Every Tuesday, Hot Pod editor Nick Quah goes above and beyond to provide thoughtful “analysis, insight, and commentary on the growing podcast industry.” These aren’t just the headlines. Nick spends the time to give you the full picture, pulling you in and teaching you something new each week. No mindless scrolling here.

Want even more insight? You can go premium and get access to Hot Pod’s Insider newsletter, as well. That said, the free version of this newsletter offers a tremendous amount of depth already.

Podyssey Podcasts

Each week, Podyssey provides thousands of subscribers with a handpicked selection of the top podcast and playlist recommendations. Chosen by Podyssey’s community of tastemakers and micro-influencers, these podcasts cover every genre from true crime to storytelling.

RAIN Daily Digest

Informative, insightful, influential, entertaining — RAIN News is the preeminent source of information and commentary about the future of radio and the emergence of streaming audio. RAIN Daily Digest newsletter is a curated package of knowledge points and original analysis. Although not specific to podcasting, this newsletter provides a more wide-ranging perspective that you might not get from other daily news sources.

The Bello Collective

A favorite of the podcasting community, The Bello Collective sends out a newsletter every other week. Their newsletter centers around recommendations that will lead you to your new favorite show. Beyond that, newsletters include relevant industry news and host interviews. And, occasionally, a few fun non-podcasting tidbits to keep you going. After all, we’re all in this together.

Podcast Delivery

Podcast Delivery recognized that the podcast discovery struggle is real, so they decided to make things easier. They weed through the endless stream of new content, digging through all the noise until they find a gem, and then send it your way in the form of a weekly newsletter. Their mission is to let listeners listen and forget about discovering. You focus on making it to Friday.

Inside Podcasting

Last but certainly not least is Inside Podcasting. Inside is a media group with multiple newsletters specializing in all kinds of topics, from cryptocurrency to security. Inside Podcasting is written by Shreya Sharma, and her mission is simple: to send you everything you need to know about podcasts every week.

You can’t go wrong with any one of these newsletters, but you might as well subscribe to all of them to be safe. A daily or weekly newsletter is a painless way to stay ahead on podcasting news that could ultimately prove invaluable for your show.
